Jennifer Tsui is an assistant professor in the Division of Population Science at the Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey and in the Department of Health Systems and Policy at the Rutgers School of Public Health. Her research focuses on disparities in cancer care delivery and cancer outcomes, particularly among racial/ethnic minority and low-income populations. Most recently, Dr. Tsui was awarded a 5-year Mentored Research Scholar Grant in Applied and Clinical Research from the American Cancer Society to investigate health care organizational and delivery factors that impact care transitions for underserved cancer patients. Using a mixed methods design, the study focuses on factors at the health care system, provider/practice, and individual levels that affect cancer care for breast and colorectal cancer patients with Medicaid coverage. Dr. Tsui has expertise in using state and national cancer registry information, large population-based surveys, geographic/spatial data, and other insurance claims to understand multilevel influences on patterns of care and care quality for cancer patients. She has over 10 years of multidisciplinary research experience in collaborating regularly with cancer prevention and control stakeholders at the local, national, and international levels, including at the World Health Organization and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Dr. Tsui completed a postdoctoral research fellowship at the Columbia University Cancer Training Program, a Ph.D. in Health Policy & Management from the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health, and an M.P.H in Epidemiology from Columbia University.
