Neonatologist and Assistant Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at the Univerisity of California-Los Angeles David Geffen School of Medicine

Animesh Sabnis, MD, MSHS, is a neonatologist and Assistant Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at the University of California–Los Angeles David Geffen School of Medicine. He provides quaternary neonatal intensive care as well as pediatric palliative care consultations, and co-chairs the Neonatal Palliative Care Committee, at the UCLA Mattel Children’s Hospital. Dr. Sabnis is developing a research program with a focus on improving the quality of communication delivered to families in crisis by professionals in neonatal intensive care units. He has implemented a quality improvement project to improve early family meetings in neonatal intensive care. The long-term goal of his current research is to develop a multi-faceted intervention for delivering early goals of care conversations to the families of seriously ill newborns on a large scale. Dr. Sabnis received a bachelor of arts in biomedical ethics from Brown University, a master of fine arts in creative writing from Columbia University, a medical doctorate from the University of Pittsburgh, and a master of science in health services research from the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health.
