Marie Brault

Dr. Brault is a medical anthropologist and research scientist at the Yale Global Health Leadership Institute. In her role at Yale, she has been providing qualitative methods and analysis expertise on multiple projects related to: culture change in hospitals, coordination of health and social services for elderly complex patients, and development of a sustainable healthcare workforce in low-income settings. Prior to joining Yale, Marie received her PhD in anthropology at the University of Connecticut. While at UConn, Marie assisted with a mixed methods NIMH-funded STI/HIV prevention project for women in low-income communities in Mumbai, India, an NIAA-funded project to improve ARV adherence among men using alcohol in Mumbai, India. Marie served as co-PI on an NSF dissertation grant exploring pre-marital factors contributing to adolescent marriage versus delayed marriage and the impacts of these pre-marital factors on young women's sexual and reproductive outcomes in low-income communities in Mumbai, India. She has also collaborated on a joint World Health Organization/Vanderbilt University project to examine barriers and facilitators of child health in Sub-Saharan Africa. Her research interests include: health disparities, sexual and reproductive health, gender, and community-based participatory research.
