Global Health Summer Institute

The Global Health Summer Institute offers a variety of short, intensive courses that are designed for students and working professionals. Our Summer Institute courses are offered for academic credit as well as not-for-credit. 

Within the Global Health Summer Institute are five separate tracks that provide specialized coursework aimed at enhancing global health knowledge, linking community, data, equity, and action. Courses are taught by leading BSPH faculty and global experts who have extensive interdisciplinary experience and expertise.

Tracks

Gender and Health

Courses offered within the Gender and Health Track present an exciting opportunity to build or refresh your skills in various aspects of gender and equity analysis. This Track is a great primer for learners seeking to integrate a gendered approach in their current thinking or practice, or for those who wish to advise on gender within health organizations.

Health Emergencies in Large Populations

Courses offered within the Health Emergencies in Large Populations Track offer humanitarian workers intensive training in the public health principles of disaster preparedness and disaster management.

Health Systems

Courses offered within the Health Systems Track provide cutting-edge skills in a variety of global health topics. Learners will develop the skills necessary to assess and improve a wide range of public health systems. Course work focuses on low- and middle-income countries, but the skills are universal.

Indigenous Health

Courses offered within the Indigenous Health Track, in partnership with various tribes and experts throughout the US, provide tools to strengthen Indigenous communities.

Tropical Medicine and Public Health

Courses offered within the Tropical Medicine and Public Health Track provide multidisciplinary training in current and emerging health problems in low-resource settings. This Track is ideal for learners who are interested in pursuing a career in infectious diseases research, practice, or medicine in a global context.
