Innovation Portfolio Partners is a Silicon Valley-based consulting firm that assists senior management of Fortune 500 companies successfully develop innovative strategies and products that will create new markets or successfully transform existing ones. He also helps small entrepreneurs develop their products for initial sale or prepare for sale of the technology or company.
Prior to starting his own innovation firm, Karl was Vice President of Research & Development and General Manager of New Business for The Procter & Gamble Company. In his thirty years with P&G, he was responsible for the Global R&D for Pharmaceuticals and Over-the-Counter Health Care including among other brands, Actonel, Vicks, Prilosec, Pepto Bismol, Align and In-home Diagnostic Tests. Prior to Health Care he was responsible for Household Cleaning Products and Gillette’s Duracell Batteries. This included developing two new-to-the-world billion-dollar businesses, Swiffer and Febreze as well as reinvigorating Mr. Clean and growing Dawn and Cascade. He has also managed Beauty Care businesses and started up P&G’s Diaper and Maxipad businesses across Latin America. Corporately he was responsible for developing the Company’s overall capability to create Disruptive Innovations.
He serves on the Board of Directors of the Cincinnati Symphony and the University of Toledo College of Engineering Advisory Board. He is a member of TED conference and has been a speaker at the Mayo Clinic Transform Symposium, Consumer Medical Conference, and Harvard Business School. He holds a BS in Chemical Engineering from the University of Toledo.
Karl is married to Elizabeth Ronn, a retired P&G marketing vice-president. They have two children and reside in Palo Alto, California.
