Certificate in Mental Health Policy, Economics and Services

In collaboration with the Department of Health Policy and Management, the Department of Mental Health started offering a Certificate in Mental Health Policy, Economics, and Services beginning in the 2012-2013 academic year. The “stand-alone” certificate is offered to degree and non-degree students. The goal of the certificate is to help prepare students for a wide range of policy, advocacy and research careers within the field of mental health. The program is designed to introduce students to current issues in mental health policy including economic evaluation of mental and substance disorders and their treatments; access to mental health care treatments and utilization patterns; and mental health care financing, insurance, and delivery system issues in the U.S. The program also strives to orient mental health policy, economics, and services training within the broader context of ongoing national health care debates.
