Cancer Epidemiology

Curriculum and Faculty

The Cancer Epidemiology track offers a vibrant mix of didactic training, student-faculty discussions, and research experience in cancer etiology, prevention and control.

Three integrated training tracks are offered: cancer etiology and prevention, genetic epidemiology of cancer, and cancer control. Course offerings specific to the track include a two-term course “Etiologic and Preventive Aspects of Cancer” and an advanced second-year course “Methodologic Issues in Cancer Epidemiology.”

The Curriculum Includes

  • Didactic course work in epidemiology, including specific course work in cancer epidemiology
  • Participation in monthly cancer epidemiology journal club, seminar series, and research-in-progress meetings
  • Analysis of the existing cancer epidemiology data set

Students are required to complete the Epidemiology Department’s basic core curriculum in addition to the required course work for their track. There are course requirements for each track, as well as course requirements for each degree program. Each track is detailed in the Department’s academic guide.
