Epidemiology Master's Student Scholarships
All students accepted into the MHS and ScM programs are considered for these admissions scholarships. No additional application or supplemental material required. Recipients will be notified along with their letter of admission. These scholarships below will be awarded beginning with the matriculating class of academic year 2026-27.
MHS Applied Path Scholarships / The Abe Lilienfeld Scholarship Fund
Created in honor of Abraham Lilienfeld, who chaired the Department of Epidemiology in the 1970’s, these scholarships will be awarded to three outstanding incoming MHS students (applied path) with prior accomplishments in the critical area of professional and applied epidemiology. One recipient of this award will receive a $17,000 tuition scholarship, and two additional awardees will each receive an $8,500 tuition scholarship.
MHS Analytic Path Scholarships
These scholarships will be awarded to three outstanding incoming MHS students (analytic path) with prior accomplishments in the field of epidemiology. One recipient of this award will receive a $17,000 tuition scholarship, and two additional awardees will each receive an $8,500 tuition scholarship.
The Ellen B. Gold Fund for Epidemiology
Created in honor of Ellen B. Gold, PhD '77, who served on the faculty in the Department of Epidemiology, this award recognizes exceptional graduate students in epidemiology. Gold is a current faculty member at UC Davis School of Medicine researching the effects of lifestyle factors and occupational/environmental exposures on cancer and women’s health, particularly pertaining to ovarian function and menopause. This award will be given to an incoming ScM student as a $17,000 tuition scholarship.
The Dorothy and Arthur Samet Student Support Fund in Epidemiology
Created by former Department of Epidemiology chair Jonathan Samet in honor of his parents, this award supports an outstanding and accomplished ScM incoming master’s student as a $17,000 tuition scholarship.
Beginning in academic year 2026-27, the department will make the following additional scholarship available to continuing ScM students enrolled in the program:
ScM Academic Excellence Scholarship
Four scholarships of $5,000 each will be awarded to continuing ScM students in recognition of academic achievements in four department priorities or strategic initiatives (e.g. AI, translational epidemiology, community service, etc.).
