Research

The Johns Hopkins Center for Health Equity brings scientists from different disciplines together to create innovative theories, methods, and practical interventions to promote equity in health and healthcare for groups and populations that have been economically and/or socially marginalized.

The Center includes NIH and PCORI-funded intervention studies to improve the identification, treatment, and outcomes of patients with chronic conditions such as hypertension, heart disease, diabetes, kidney disease, and depression.  

• We engage in community-based research and implement this knowledge in our daily work with communities including a crosscutting local global learning theme which draws from and reflects on lessons learned during applications made in multiple settings across the globe.  
• We draw upon community-based participatory research principles such as trustworthiness, respect for diverse perspectives, and participatory decision-making, to build strong ties among researchers, healthcare provider networks, community members, and policy-makers.
