Outreach and Knowledge Sharing
Understanding the concept of health inequities and how best to contribute to advancing health equity can be complicated. Information, advocacy, innovation, and inspiration are needed at all levels of society to tackle this complex challenge. Our team is learning more about these complexities every day and we’re eager to share this knowledge widely.
We are committed to engaging with our community through listening, education, advocacy, innovation, and inspiration.
-
We participate in public forums where we educate community members about chronic disease risk factors and research methods and results, including how to become involved and contribute to research.
-
We provide health education, nutritional counseling, and blood pressure screenings at local health fairs and block parties.
-
We speak on radio talk shows about our research and how community members can use the results to improve their own health.
-
We partner with community-based organizations on programs to raise awareness of the importance of prevention and treatment of chronic disease.
-
We also work in partnership with community-based organizations on training community health workers and lay health advocates.
