Community Engagement
The Center has become a leader in stakeholder-engaged research and practice. We engage with and include a diverse set of stakeholders including researchers, health system professionals, patients, community representatives, policy makers, and funders.
Ways We Engage
To fulfil our commitment to being a leading transformative force for health equity, we are implementing a variety of engagement activities with our stakeholder communities. These include:
- Outreach and Knowledge Sharing: We engage in community outreach activities such as public forums, health fairs, special training programs, fact sheets, website and social media posts, and newspaper, magazine, radio and TV interviews.
- Community-Academic Partnerships: We build community-academic partnerships which draw from the respective strengths and expertise of academic institutions and community partners to achieve health equity in socially at-risk communities.
- Public Policy: We commit to bringing research into policy decisions within private institutions, at all levels of government, and across sectors.
Our engagement activities are informed by three strategic goals:
- Strengthen the Center's infrastructure to support best practices for stakeholder-engaged research
- Rigorously evaluate both our approach to stakeholder engagement, and the impact of stakeholder engagement on internal (i.e., Hopkins faculty and trainees) and external stakeholders
- Create opportunities to extend the Center’s local, statewide, and national impact
