The Center also sponsors SOURCE Community Service Awards that are given to students, student organizations, faculty mentors, and community mentors who have performed outstanding service to a community-based organization. Nominations are due annually in March, and distributed in April, during National Volunteer Week. For more information, go to the SOURCE Service Awards page.

East Baltimore community leader Glenn Ross leads scheduled tours through the surrounding neighborhoods to orient students to the community. *Tours are offered at posted times during the summer months and the 1st term/ 2nd term (around Orientation times). Tours are not offered in the Winter months due to the cold weather.
National Volunteer Week Activities
Each April, the center hosts National Volunteer Week. Various activities occur throughout the week, including community-organization speakers, recognition banquet, community service awards, and service projects.
Practicing Justice Series
Practicing Justice is an event and training approach to critical consciousness development, bringing intentional social justice orientation into community engagement and service-learning work. Throughout the year, SOURCE collaborates with various campus partners and student groups to host Practicing Justice workshops, panel discussions, and film screenings, which are followed by critical reflection sessions.
Student Seminars and Workshops
These seminars and workshops are designed to prepare students for volunteer service and reflection on their experience. Topics include safety in the community, cultural competency, and many more. Seminars are announced on campus listservs and calendars, as well as SOURCE's Weekly Service Scoop.
Tri-School Days of Service
SOURCE provides one-time service activities through its Tri-School Days of Service which are held in the Fall (late Sept/early Oct) and in the Spring (April). These days of service are great opportunities to volunteer in the community on a team with peers from the Schools of Medicine, Nursing and Public Health. Several projects are available to choose from and are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis.
