Sight and Life Global Nutrition Research Institute
In October 1998, the Sight and Life Institute was created with a $3 million pledge from F. Hoffman-La Roche. The pledge recognizes a longstanding and extraordinary partnership between the School and Roche in conducting public health research to control vitamin A and other key micronutrient deficiencies.
The Institute directs its efforts to clarify the roles of vitamin A and other micronutrients in promoting maternal, fetal, infant, and child survival. The Institute also offers technical assistance and provides leadership in developing global and national guidelines for preventing micronutrient deficiencies.
