Gross human rights violations, including forced displacement, forced labor, attacks by soldiers on civilians, injury from landmines and destruction or theft of food supplies, have been widespread in eastern Burma (also known as Myanmar), with over half of households in displaced areas reporting incidents in the 12 months prior to a 2004 survey.

These instructions are just a few of the important lessons taken to heart by students, colleagues, friends and family of George Wills Comstock, whose life was celebrated at the Bloomberg School on September 28, 2007.

The Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health has been selected as a study center in the National Children’s Study to assess the effects of environmental and genetic factors on child and human health in the United States. The study center will manage local participant recruitment and data collection in the largest study of child and human health ever conducted in the United States.
