Project SHELTER (Supporting Health, Education & Livelihood: towards Empowerment and Resilience)
The survival, health, education and wellbeing of children has a strong and reciprocal link with long-term community development and resilience. The population residing in Boropahari, a region in the Birbhum district of West Bengal is vulnerable in terms of poor health, low education status and limited scope for work and economic growth.
The SHELTER initiative uses a three-pronged intervention aimed to create a direct and positive impact in this community specifically addressing SDG3 (Good health and wellbeing), SDG4 (Quality education) and SDG8 (Decent work and economic growth). Project activities include supporting awareness and opportunities for education for children, enhancing population health and nutrition status and building capacity through skill training for economic development.
