A Common Language
Accuracy and consistency are crucial to tobacco control work and its impact. It is in this spirit that IGTC offers (and has adopted) the following recommendations for intentional communications when discussing certain nicotine and tobacco products—along with the people who may use nicotine and tobacco products.
IGTC Director Joanna Cohen co-authored an editorial in Tobacco Control and shared the background of this effort in a video. We also have created a guide to help those interested in using these guidelines in their work.
