Experiences & Accomplishments
Overview

Amanda Burgess is a public health advocate with experience working across disciplines to bring people together strategically to create change. She is passionate about identifying and deconstructing systems and structures that perpetuate inequities in the full range of maternal, child, sexual and reproductive health issues. She has co-led efforts to bring more than 1,200 members of the international sexual and reproductive health community together to host bold conversations about how we can all act differently to shift and share power in global health. As a technical resource for a multi-country advocacy initiative, Amanda coordinated monitoring and strategic communications across more than 30 partners implementing locally-driven advocacy in Africa, Asia, and Latin America. Together these partners achieved over 3,454 advocacy successes and mobilized $186 million US dollars for family planning over a 13-year period. She is currently serving as the project and training coordinator for the Data Innovation and Coordination Hub of the IMPROVE Maternal Health Research Centers of Excellence Initiative in the Department of International Health.
