Experiences & Accomplishments
Dr. Rolf D.W. Klemm is an esteemed global nutrition expert with over 30 years of experience in maternal and child nutrition, food policy, and public health interventions. As Vice President for Nutrition at Helen Keller International and Senior Associate at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, Dr. Klemm bridges the worlds of academia and applied nutrition programming. His expertise lies in designing, implementing, and evaluating evidence-based nutrition interventions to combat malnutrition and micronutrient deficiencies in low- and middle-income countries.
Dr. Klemm's leadership has shaped nutrition policies and programs worldwide. He has served as the Country Director for Helen Keller International-Philippines, Technical Director for USAID’s flagship micronutrient program, and principal investigator for nutrition research in Nepal, Bangladesh, Zambia, Malawi, and the Democratic Republic of Congo. His work spans fortification, supplementation, maternal and child health, and agricultural linkages to nutrition, with an emphasis on translating research into action.
A dedicated educator and mentor, Dr. Klemm teaches courses on food and nutrition policy at Johns Hopkins, guiding the next generation of public health leaders. He is a founding member of the Society for Implementation Science in Nutrition and has played a pivotal role in global efforts to scale up evidence-based nutrition programs. His contributions to the field are widely recognized, making him a sought-after speaker, advisor, and author in international nutrition and public health.
