Are you interested in learning more about relating your professional research goals to your capstone project?
Are you interested in learning how to clearly define your research question, design an adequate research plan to answer your research question, perform a literature review, develop a conceptual framework, and describe the methods needed to undertake your capstone project?
Discusses the importance of clearly articulating a research question and its associated aims. Reviews search strategies and data bases for a literature review and critical appraisal. Critically examines how students can design research plans to answer their research questions, provides tips for formulating a conceptual framework, define variables and decide how to measure them and select the most appropriate study design (taxonomy).
Learning Objectives
Upon successfully completing this course, students will be able to:
- Explain the critical elements of an appropriate research question
- Describe the key components associated with a literature review and appraisal
- Describe explicitly how their research plan is designed to answer their research question
- Critically evaluate the components, structure, and synthesis of a successful research plan
