Description
Builds on the foundation offered in Clinical Practicum. Pairs students with faculty and affiliated mentors who have clinical ethics supervisory responsibility in their respective institutions. Exposes students to real-time ethical dilemmas and how they are addressed and resolved with an emphasis on the development of practical skills.
Learning Objectives
Upon successfully completing this course, students will be able to:
  1. Evaluate the relevance of different approaches to ethics to specific issues in clinical medicine
  2. Analyze ethical issues in clinical care and communicate effectively about the analyses
  3. Integrate and apply bioethical reasoning to real clinical ethics cases
  4. Consider ethical problems in the larger historical and social context of clinical care
