Introduces the nutrition care process (NCP) and the nutrition-focused physical exam (NFPE). Teaches the different components of the exam and applies them through in-class activities.
Learning Objectives
Upon successfully completing this course, students will be able to:
- Identify the components of the Nutrition Care Process (NCP)
- Recognize clinical signs of nutrient deficiencies
- Identify muscle wasting, fat loss and nutrition related edema as characteristics of malnutrition
- Demonstrate Nutrition-Focused Physical Exam (NFPE) skills
Methods of Assessment
This course is evaluated as follows:
- 80% Participation
- 20% Assignments
Enrollment Restriction
Only MSPH Dietitian students in their first year are allowed
Will be meeting in person on Nov 6, Dec 4 and Dec 11.
