About the Student Experience Award
The Center for Global Women’s Health and Gender Equity (CGWHGE) Student Experience Award provides support for events or projects related to global women’s health and gender equity and the Center’s priority areas.
Purpose: To advance student experiences related to the priority areas of CGWHGE.
Award size: $500-$1000
Duration: Funding must be used within one year, while recipient is a registered student
Application deadline:
Applicants are accepted on a rolling basis throughout the academic year. Applicants can apply in any one of the below timeframes:
- Between August 26, 2024 and December 20, 2024, OR
- Between January 21, 2025 and May 16, 2025.
Eligibility criteria:
- Current part-time and full-time JHU degree students across all divisions and schools.
- The topic is relevant to CGWHGE priority areas.
- Funding can be used for the following activities:
- Travel for accepted conference presentation (flights, hotels, registration fees, per diem)
- Travel for participation in conference or networking event (flights, hotels, registration fees, per diem)
- Travel to support degree requirements (e.g. capstone, practicum, PhD research, including data collection, stakeholder meeting, etc.)
- Other activities with justification
- The funding cannot be used toward tuition payments, coursework, or funding of your degree program.
Awardee requirements:
- Brief report (1-2 pages) summarizing activity, what was accomplished with the funds, and impact on education or professional development, within 1 month of completion.
- Complete a structured “spotlight” on lessons learned for CGWHGE website, within 1 month of completion.
- Acknowledge CGWHGE as a funder in all related products (article, PPT for conference presentation).
- Comply with all JHU policies for reimbursement.
Application process:
- Applications can be submitted during one of two timeframes:
- The first, during terms one and two, i.e. between August 26, 2024 and December 20, 2024.
- The second window when applications will be open is during terms three and four, i.e. between January 21, 2025 and May 16, 2025.
- Applications will not be accepted outside the above timeframes.
- Applicants will be reviewed rolling during these two timeframes, and we strongly encourage those interested to apply as early as possible.
