Baltimore Health Equity Impact Grant 2024 requests for proposals open now
The Johns Hopkins Urban Health Institute announces call for proposals for the 2024 Baltimore Health Equity Impact Grant.
The Baltimore Health Equity Impact Grant (BHE Impact Grant) is now requesting proposals for 2024! This grant is open to collaborations between community-based organizations and academic partners leveraging their combined expertise and resources to address the unique health challenges faced by Baltimore's residents. The BHE Impact Grant offers community grants to graduate students, undergraduate students, and faculty members. Providing this grant is an investment in the future, supporting the development of leaders dedicated to creating a positive impact in Baltimore.
The Johns Hopkins Urban Health Institute (UHI) has had the privilege of awarding community-based research and development programs since 2009. By supporting these collaborative efforts, UHI reaffirms its commitment to making a positive difference in the lives of Baltimore's communities and contributing to the overall health and well-being of the city.
The success of community partners such as Veronica Jackson, Executive Director of PIVOT, Inc. and Jayson Green, CEO and Executive Director of New Song Community Learning Center, and 2023 Bunting Fellow, demonstrate the value of the BHE Impact Grants. These individuals have worked tirelessly to make a significant impact on Baltimore.
“It’s crucial to provide funding opportunities such as this to facilitate connections between grassroots organizations really doing the work in Baltimore and researchers at Johns Hopkins who are able to support that work with their research expertise,” said researcher Carla Tilchin, MSPH, PhD Candidate, who was the lead author on an evaluation report on PIVOT.
“The JHU Urban Health Institute's [Baltimore] Health Equity [Impact] Grant helped us achieve our goal of sharing healthy food resources with our community. The funding helped us create the Eat2Thrive program,” said Green.
By awarding grants to these partnerships, UHI aims to encourage and facilitate impactful projects that continue to address health disparities and promote equity in Baltimore city.

Proposals accepted until November 30, 2023, by 5 pm.
We are also seeking grant reviewers from both Baltimore city community members and Johns Hopkins to review Baltimore Health Equity Impact Grant proposals.
