CDC Honors Bloomberg School Injury Prevention Leaders
As part of its national 20th anniversary celebration, the CDC’s National Center for Injury Prevention and Control will pay tribute to four Bloomberg School researchers who continue to lead the way in the fields of violence and injury prevention.
The National Center for Injury Prevention and Control launched its "20 for 20 Project" earlier this month by announcing 20 individuals who will be honored throughout the anniversary year. Among the esteemed list are the following Bloomberg School representatives.
| Susan Baker, MPH, ScD (Hon.) – An epidemiologist specializing in injury prevention, Professor Baker is the founding director of the Johns Hopkins Center for Injury Research and Policy. |
| Jacquelyn Campbell, PhD, MSN – With a focus on the prevention of domestic violence, Professor Campbell works with the Center for Global Health, the Center for the Prevention of Youth Violence and the Johns Hopkins Center for Injury Research and Policy. |
| Andrea Gielen, ScD, ScM – Professor Gielen is the current director of the Johns Hopkins Center for Injury Research and Policy and her work centers on the development and evaluation of community programs to address health behavior problems. |
| Ellen MacKenzie, PhD – The current Fred and Julie Soper chair of the Department of Health Policy and Management and former director of the Johns Hopkins Center for Injury Research and Policy, Professor MacKenzie’s research focuses on the impact of health services and policies on survivors of traumatic injury. |
During the 20th anniversary, the CDC aims not only to celebrate the accomplishments of its injury center, but also to honor the ground-breaking work from the entire field.
