Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health professorDavid Holtgrave was recognized by the National Association of People with AIDS (NAPWA) and AIDSWatch with the Positive Leadership Award. The award recognizes AIDS advocates who have made major contributions in the past year to improving the lives of persons living with HIV and AIDS. Holtgrave was given the honor for his ongoing research on the effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of HIV prevention, treatment and housing interventions, as well as for his work on the National HIV/AIDS Strategy. The award was presented at a ceremony in Washington, D.C., on February 16.
Holtgrave is professor and chair of the Bloomberg School’s Department of Health Behavior and Society. In 2010, he was appointed to the Presidential Advisory Council on HIV/AIDS, which provides advice, information and recommendations to the President through the Secretary of Health and Human Services on domestic and global HIV/AIDS policy issues.
