Johns Hopkins Center for a Livable Future Awards Predoctoral Fellowships for 2010-2011

The Johns Hopkins Center for a Livable Future (CLF) has named 17 Johns Hopkins University students as recipients of the 2010–2011 predoctoral fellowship awards. The fellowship provides support for outstanding students who are committed to the discovery and application of knowledge related to food sustainability and security and is divided into CLF’s two main program areas, Farming for the Future and Eating for the Future.

The Farming for the Future Program explores the relationships among food production, the environment and public health. Recipients of the Farming for the Future Predoctoral Fellowships for the 2010–2011 academic year are: Ann Carroll, a second-year doctoral student in Environmental Health Sciences; Ricardo Castillo, a second-year doctoral student in Epidemiology; Meghan Davis, a third-year doctoral student in Environmental Health Sciences; Beth Feingold, a fourth-year doctoral student in Environmental Health Sciences; Jillian Parry Fry, a fourth-year doctoral student in Health Policy and Management; Linnea Laestadius, a second-year doctoral student in Health Policy and Management; Yessika Mashinski, a third-year doctoral student in Environmental Health Sciences; Melissa Poulsen, a first-year doctoral student in International Health; and Supriya Shah, a first-year doctoral student in Health Policy and Management.

The Eating for the Future Program focuses on improving our understanding of how food environments influence individuals’ food choices and eating behaviors. Recipients of the Eating for the Future Predoctoral Fellowships for the 2010–2011 academic year are: Megan Clayton, a first-year doctoral student in Health, Behavior and Society; Jennifer Hartle, a third-year doctoral student in Environmental Health Sciences; Holly Henry, a third-year doctoral student in Health, Behavior and Society; Lisa Lagasse, a second-year doctoral student in Health, Behavior and Society; Rebecca Nachman, a fourth-year doctoral student in Environmental Health Sciences; Remle Stubbs-Dame, a first-year doctoral student in International Health; Amber Summers, a third-year doctoral student in Health, Behavior and Society; and Patti Truant, a first-year doctoral student in Health Policy and Management.

Each CLF Predoctoral Fellowship award provides one year of support in an amount up to $60,000 to be used for tuition, stipend, or research expenses. Students are eligible for support during any stage of their doctoral program  and must be enrolled in any one of the divisions of Johns Hopkins University in a PhD, ScD, or DrPH program. The CLF Predoctoral Fellowship Program, now in its eighth year, is made possible through the generous support of an anonymous donor.
