Dean Klag Appointed to Health Information Technology (HIT) Policy Committee

Klag, MD, MPH, dean of the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, was appointed by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to serve as a member of the Health Information Technology (HIT) Policy Committee. The new federal advisory committee will make recommendations to the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology on a policy framework for the development of a national health information infrastructure. Their recommendations will include standards for the secure and private exchange of patient medical information.

The Policy Committee was established by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. The committee held its first meeting on Monday, May 11, in Washington, D.C.
