Powe Named to HHS Advisory Committee on Human Research Protections (web article)

Neil R. Powe, MD, MPH, MBA, a professor in the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health departments of Epidemiology and Health Policy Management and professor of Medicine at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, was recently appointed to a two-year term with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary's Advisory Committee on Human Research Protections. Dr. Powe is also director of the Welch Center for Prevention, Epidemiology and Clinical Research.

The committee members provide expert advice and recommendations to the Secretary of HHS and the Assistant Secretary for Health on issues and topics pertaining to or associated with the protection of human research subjects.

John Agwunobi, MD, MPH, Assistant Secretary for Health and a 2004 graduate of the Bloomberg School, administered the oath of office to Powe at a ceremony held March 13.
