Dominici Named Mortimer Spiegelman Award Recipient

Francesca Dominici, PhD, associate professor in the Bloomberg School’s Department of Biostatistics, has been named the 2006 Mortimer Spiegleman Award recipient by the American Public Health Association (APHA) Statistics Section.

Dominici focuses her research on environmental epidemiology, toxicology and carcinogenicity and meta-analysis of clinical trials.  She also estimates the health costs of smoking and designs risk adjustment models and estimates group performance in health services and research.

The award, named for demographer, actuary and biostatistician Mortimer Spiegelman, has been presented annually since 1970 to an outstanding public health statistician under the age of 40. The award serves to honor the achievements of both the recipients and Spiegelman, to encourage further involvement in public health of the finest young statisticians and to increase awareness of APHA and the Statistics Section in the academic statistical community.
