What kind of things do you work on? I do research with a focus on prioritizing equity in interventions to address childhood injury. I am involved in developing injury prevention programming and evaluation, and in writing policy and technical reports on injury prevention.
What are your future career goals?
I am in my dream job now, which is a career goal that I’ve had for many years, and was clarified during my time in the MPH program at Johns Hopkins. In the future, I’d like to make an impact on inequities in childhood injury and hope to be able to do that in my current role.
What is your favorite memory from your time at Johns Hopkins?
My favorite memory is of a class taught by Dr. Keshia Pollack Porter in which I was learning about the equity impact assessment. That’s when it really hit me that there are ways to systematically measure the impact of interventions on equity.
Which would you rather do? In the sport of your choice, set a world record at the Olympics (name the sport) OR invent something that people use daily (name the invention).
I would rather invent something that people use daily. One piece of equipment I would love to invent would be a universal car seat, that is light, mobile, can be rear or forward facing, and able to automatically properly fit any motor vehicle in which it’s installed. If there are any engineers out there who want to partner with me to do it, let’s go! 😊
